The Gerbils and Dormice of the South African wilds are very beautiful (Small in size) rodents. The Dormice especially are striking mammals. Three (3) species of Dormouse occur in South Africa, as most regard the Lesser Savannah Dormouse to be a smaller form of the Woodland Dormouse, which would make this rodent the fourth specie of South African Dormouse, as well as six (6) species of Gerbil to go with that. here are all the species of gerbil and dormice of south Africa:
