Seals And Dugong Of South Africa
The Seal and Dugong marine mammal species of South Africa comprise of 3 main different groups; Dugong (Order Sirenia), Fur Seals and True Seals (Order Pinnipedia). In these 3 groups of South Africa's sea loving marine mammals there are some common marine mammals and some vagrant or rare species of marine mammal. The South African coastal shores provide the perfect habitat for the Seal species of South Africa whereas the more warmer, tropical waters of the KwaZulu Natal region provide a good habitat for the only Dugong specie that occurs off the South African coast.
