All The Mammal Species Of The Kalahari Gemsbok National Park

Mammals Of The Kgalagadi

The Kalahari Gemsbok National Park is a hugely diverse natural South African wilderness area. There are 69 different mammal species that occur in the park and all the mammals can be seen, with a bit of luck of course. The main mammal attraction to the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park is probably the black maned Kalahari Lion. Brown Hyaena, Gemsbok and the huge herds of Springbok, Hartebeest, Eland, Wildebeest, as well as the great rodent diversity, are also high up on the visitors 'To see' list. These animal species can be seen quite regularly. Early February is the best time to go on a Kalahari safari as this is when all the migratory mammal species are in one place. The 100's of Red Hartebeest have come down from the dunes and the 1000's of Common Eland have come back from the Botswana side of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park... With these ungulates, predators follow...
