The Reptile Species Of The Kalahari Gemsbok National Park

Snakes, Tortoises and Lizards Of The Kgalagadi (Kalahari Gemsbok National park)

Reptiles are the slimy creatures of the South African wilderness. Snakes, geckos, skinks, lizards, agamas, monitors, snakes, chameleons, terrapins and tortoises make up the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park's reptile list. Reptiles in the park are seen more often than in other game reserves and National Parks of South Africa. This is because of the prime reptile habitat that the Kgalagadi has to offer. The Cape Cobra, Puffadder and Mole Snake are the more often seen snakes and the Ground Agama and Bibron's Gecko are lizards that occur all over the Kalahari in all types of habitat, if you keep your eyes open you will see these beautiful reptiles quite a lot on your journey into the unknown wilds and sand dunes of the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park. There are at least 55 different species of reptiles in the Kgalagadi. Reptiles, when seen, can lead to some extraordinary events, especially snakes. For example, did you know that a Cape Cobras diet in the park includes a large percentage pf Puffadders? Or that the Cape Cobras are known to wipe out complete colonies of Sociable Weavers? These are just a few interesting facts. Listed below are the different reptiles that occur in the Kalahari Park:
