The Kruger National Park Large Herbivore Census 2006; South Africa

The 2006 Animal Count Of Antelope And Other Large Herbivorous Mammals

The Kruger National Park has a large amount of antelope and other large grazing and browsing mammals. To maintain this wonderful South African game reserve accurate numbers of large animals are required in order to keep the ecology of the environment in check. In the 2006 Kruger Park census the number of Impala dropped dramatically from 100 947 in last years count. Every large herbivore has increased in number from last years count. The Impala and Blue Wildebeest haven't faired so well. There were around 12000 Blue Wildebeest in 2006!
