Photos Of South Africa's King Of Beasts; The African Lion Panthera Leo

African Lion And Lioness Images And Photographs

African Lions are both active in the day (Diurnal) and active at night (Nocturnal). The African Lion is highly social carnivorous mammal and some of these photos show the relationship between the Lions in the pride. Most of the photos I have taken here would of been in the Kruger National Park, as this is one of the best destinations in South Africa to see this amazing predator. The male African Lion is a powerful ruler and can way up to around 250kg. I have heard many stories of 1 or 2 male Lions taking down big herbivorous mammals buy themselves. Animals like the Southern Giraffe, African Buffalo and the most surprising of them all the Black Rhino and White Rhino are some of the large prey these strong Lions go for. To read more about the African Lion just follow the link or to see the photos of these beautiful Lions just click the thumbnail to enlarge the image. Lions are amazing besides catching and eating almost any walking mammal they will also hunt reptiles such as the Nile Crocodile and in the arid zones of South Africa, particularly the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, the African Lion has been seen eating Gemsbok Cucumbers and Tsamma Melons. Here are the Photos of the king of beasts the Lion:
