South Africa boasts many river bird species, and all of them have distinguishing facts about them which make them easier to identify. When you catch a glimpse of one of these river dwelling species of bird, make sure you get a good and quick identification as these river associated birds do not stay still for too long. They also live in some inaccessible habitat where it is hard to get a good view. The main river associated birds of South Africa include: Kingfishers, Trogon, Pitta and Broadbill.
